How to Remove Limescale and Rainbow Spots from Your Stainless Steel Cookware

Cookware and pans in stainless steel (especially in a 5ply construction) are fantastic. They are durable, have perfect heat distribution, heat control and look great in any kitchen.

But...

If you cook daily (or just weekly) your cookware and pans will likely also show signs of it. Limescale deposits or so-called rainbow spots.

And although it may initially seem like an impossible task, it is actually possible to get your cookware and pans to shine again!

Read along here as we go through the best tips for removing limescale and rainbow spots from your stainless steel cookware and pans.

Step 1: Light Cleaning

Scrub the pan with warm water and soap, and remove as much as possible, so that only the stubborn spots remain.

Step 2: Use Vinegar

Once you have done your best to clean the pan with water and soap, you can now move on to the next step - vinegar.

Use a coarse sponge or brush to distribute the vinegar in the pan.

Step 3: Scrub

Scrub until all the spots are gone. Depending on the task, it can take a few minutes - and require some elbow grease.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

When the spots are gone, all you need to do is rinse the pan clean and dry it well with a clean cloth.

Vinegar and Baking Soda

If your pan is still spotted after the above cleaning steps, you still have one last method you can try - namely vinegar and baking soda.

Make a paste of baking soda and vinegar and scrub it into the surface.

REMEMBER to use gloves as we are working with acid and base here.
