Béchamel Sauce

Ingredients

30 g
butter
30 g
flour
500 g
whole milk
30 g
shallots
Salt and pepper
Avoid screen shutting off

Instructions

Step 1/9
Finely chop the shallots.
Step 2/9
Melt the butter, and sauté the shallots until they become translucent.
Step 3/9
Add the flour, and let it cook while stirring – it should not turn brown.
Step 4/9
Add the milk a little at a time while stirring, so the roux dissolves.
Step 5/9
Bring the sauce to a boil while stirring constantly.
Step 6/9
Adjust the consistency with a little more milk if it becomes too thick.
Step 7/9
Season with salt and pepper – optionally also nutmeg and allspice to taste.
Step 8/9
Bring the sauce to a final boil, and then strain it to remove the onion.
Step 9/9
Add fresh parsley and a little lemon zest – then you have a delicious sauce for plaice. If you want a mornay for lasagne, add cheese instead.
